About

Detective Laura Hannings is slim, pretty lass, with a history of divorces and some kid living far away.

She has a secret drink problem and a notion of needing medication. Perhaps by not taking her meds she can tune into that 6th sense of hers – that special feeling that there are victims out there – calling to her.

They’re not of course, they’re bitching about her.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE follows the gossip surrounding Laura being, on the most part, unaware of these victims.

When a corpse is found Laura visits it - stepping through the police cordon to glare down at the lingerie label. The dead women, invisible to the living, cluster around. Some debate Laura's eating habits, skin and love life whilst others 'tut' about her disrespect to the lingerie label.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE is a dark comic drama that explores how women are represented on the screen.

It follows the stories of three dead women who have been murdered.  They lie in ditches, on wastelands and in cellars. Most are scantily clad in lingerie.

Invisible to the living these victims, Corrine, Alyssa and Geri ‘rise’ from their murder locations and, bored, they get up to hang out with one another.

Although those killed might know who their murderers are they’re more interested in their own distractions within their ‘death-state’ existences.

In truth, it is Detective LAURA HANNINGS who they should really be focused on. Laura is the only living person with the ability intuit their existence. But invisible to the living the dead women have watched Laura get lost in her life, job and in men and now many have given up on her.  So at the start most of the film the dead women have opted out of trying to make things change

The story focuses on a Corrine, Alyssa and Geri who believe that contact with the living will ultimately be via Detective Laura Hannings. Laura will be the ‘vessel’ if only she’d get her bloody act together. The problem is Laura is nearly always caught up in her own neurosis. What is certain is that when Laura’s not taking her meds she’s actually able to tune into that 6th sense of hers – that feeling that victims are out there – calling to her.
